ParentSquare provides a range of helpful features that keep parents actively involved and informed about their child’s school experience. Through the app, parents can receive  emergency alerts, school-wide announcements, classroom updates, and so much more. It also allows for two-way messaging with teachers and staff, helping to maintain clear and consistent communication. Additionally, ParentSquare supports messages in multiple languages, making it easier for families to stay engaged regardless of language barriers.

What is ParentSquare?

ParentSquare makes it easy to register for ParentSquare from the app. Follow the steps below:

1. Download and open the ParentSquare App.
1. Enter your email or cell phone number. _Note: If your email or phone number is not recognized by ParentSquare, you can "Request Access" or call your school office and ask them to update your contact information._
1. Tap **Continue**
1. Enter your registration code sent by Email or Text and tap **Continue.**
1. Create your password and confirm your password. _Note: If your registration link has expired, a new one will need to be sent to you. Please contact your school's admin and ask for a new link to be sent to you._

ParentSquare Sign Up:

You can reset or change your password from both our web browser or the app. Read below to find out how.

### Reset Password on Web Browser

1. Sign out of your ParentSquare account (click **your name** and select **Sign Out**.)
1. From the sign in page, [http://www.parentsquare.com/signin](http://www.parentsquare.com/signin), click **Forgot Password** under the password field.
1. Enter the **Email or Phone Number** associated with your ParentSquare account and click **Go.**
1. If you entered your mobile phone number you'll receive directions via text.
1. If you entered your email address you'll receive an email. Click **Reset your password.** Follow the instructions to create a new password.
1. If you enter an email address or phone number that is not associated with your ParentSquare account, you will be taken to a form to provide information to your school to add you. This may take a day or so. Please follow up with your school.

### Reset Password on App

**If you are** **SIGNED IN** **to the app:**

1. Tap the **menu** (three bars) at top left.
1. Select **Account.**
1. Select **Change Password.**
1. Check your email or text messages for the verification code. Enter the six digit code into **Reset Password Code** and tap **Verify.**
1. Follow the instructions to enter a new password.

**If you are** **SIGNED OUT** **of the app:**

1. From the Sign In screen, enter your email or phone number associated with your ParentSquare account.
1. Click **Continue.**
1. Click **Forgot Password.**
1. Check your email (if you used an email address) or text messages (if you used a phone number) for the verification code. Enter the six digit code into **Reset Password Code** and tap **Verify.**
1. Enter a new password, tap **Change Password.**
Confirmation shows password successfully changed.

### What is recommended for a good password?

- Use at least 8 characters (the more characters the better)
- Use a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols
- Avoid common password words and patterns like "1Password!" and "reallylongpassword1"
- Avoid reusing passwords you've used for other websites

Change or Reset Password:

Users should be able to see all of their children and schools in one ParentSquare account.

Examples include:

- _I am a parent, and I do not see any/all of my children in the same districts in my account when I login._
- _I am a district staff member, and I do not see my children in my account when I login._
- _I am a staff/parent in one district, and I do not see any/all of my children from another district in my account when I login._

If you are missing a child/school, it may be because:

- You have more than one ParentSquare account with different contact information.
- Your contact information is inconsistent across the schools' student information systems.

### **PARENTS: To add a child or school,**

- **You must contact your school(s) directly to update your contact information**. Ensure you have the same **email** and **phone number** on file for all children and all schools.
- Contact data is managed, updated and controlled by your school (or district), ParentSquare syncs with this information but cannot edit or change it.

We sync with the school databases nightly. The day after the change is made at your school, you should be able to log out and log back in to ParentSquare to see your updated information.

### **Staff Members Who Are Also Parents**

As a staff member and a parent, you will be able to have both your staff contacts and your parent contacts linked to the same account.

If you have a district-issued staff email on your staff record and a personal email address on your parent record, multiple accounts may have been created for you.

- If you already have the same phone listed on your staff and parent accounts, your accounts can be easily linked. The accounts will merge automatically once you complete the verification process and confirm both accounts. After this, both emails will be listed on your account, but you will be required to use your staff email to log in.
- If you already have separate registered accounts under different emails/phones, you can use the [Combine Account](https://parentsquare.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360057380571) option to merge them together.

Missing a child/Missing a school/Staff is also a Parent:

### **Parents**

If you can't sign into ParentSquare with your email or phone number, please contact your child's school. 

If you can sign in, please follow these steps:

1. Check your email and phone number in ParentSquare. Click on **your name** in the top right and click **My Account.** If corrections need to be made, please contact your child's school with the correct information.
1. Check your Notification Preferences on **My Account** page. Are your notification preferences on?
1. Check your spam folder for emails from **donotreply@parentsquare.com.**
1. Add the domain **ParentSquare.com** or the email address **donotreply@parentsquare.com** to the safe senders list in your email client (Gmail, Yahoo, aol, etc.) You can search online how to do this. If using Gmail:

- Go to Settings.
- At the bottom of the pane, click Mail.
- In the left pane, select Mail > Accounts > Block or allow.
- Under Blocked Senders, select the address or domain you want to unblock, and then select.

Text the word **START to 66458.** This will resume text messaging to your phone.

Parents should be seeing all of their children in one ParentSquare account and should be receiving notifications..

- **Sign in tip:** Parents can sign into ParentSquare on a computer web browser using their email or cell phone number. You can be on your computer and sign in with your cell phone number!
- **Notifications tip:** Add the following to your contacts to prevent calls and emails from being marked as spam or junk:
  - the school phone number.
  - the numbers 60710, 66458, 87366 & 36794 (Add them as additional phone numbers. These are the numbers that ParentSquare texts will come from.)

Parent Isn't Receiving Notifications:

**ParentSquare** imports students directly from your school's Student Information System. The data is imported during our nightly sync.

If your child no longer attends this particular school or has graduated, please contact your school directly with your request to remove your child from the school's information system.

**Outcome:** After your school makes these changes, then these changes will be shared to ParentSquare during the next nightly sync. Students will no longer be imported to ParentSquare since they will no longer exist in the student information system.
