Pittsfield Public Schools provides comprehensive instructional programs for English Learners (ELs), Grades PK-12.
The Office of English Learner Education provides ongoing support to our district's programs designed for students with non-English language backgrounds who arrive in our schools without a full command of the English language. Our main objectives are to:
-
Coordinate English Language Education (ELE) services and programs district-wide
-
Ensure educational equity and adherence to Federal and State ELE regulations
-
Support families of our ELs
-
Create and share resources to district staff and families
-
Provide ELE professional development and instructional support to district staff
Pittsfield Public Schools strives to provide our ELs with a high-quality, rich educational experience that is equitable, rigorous, supportive and that values their cultural and linguistic assets so that they are prepared for college, careers, and leadership in a global society.
We believe this is a collaborative effort that involves various key stakeholders in the lives of our PK-12 EL students: teachers, support staff, building level administrators, central office staff, families and community members.
