How do I tuition into a particular program in the Pittsfield Public Schools?

CAREER TECHNICAL PROGRAMS
Non-resident students who wish to enroll in a CTE (Career Technical Education) program, including career exploratory program,
must submit a nonresident tuition application form along with
corresponding enrollment materials. Parts I and II on the application must be received by the Receiving District for completion by March 15; and must be forwarded to the District of Residence for completion of Part III by April 1.

What is the screening process, and how will I know if my child is accepted?
Students are admitted to Career Technical Education
programs in accordance with our district’s admissions policy, which
focuses on student grades, attendance, and discipline. The policy may be
downloaded from our website, or a copy may be sent upon contacting our
office. Students who are accepted in CTE programs will receive a letter
from our office in the late spring. Families are also welcome to
contact our office to find out about a student’s status.
SPECIAL EDUCATION
Special Education placement of non-resident students shall be
authorized in accordance with the provisions of approved educational
plans subject to the authorization of the Superintendent. Special
Education Compliance Criterion will be an important factor in accepting
tuition requests. Families will work through their local special
education departments to arrange these placements and tuition
arrangements. The Pittsfield Public Schools Special Education Department

ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS
English Language Learner placement shall be authorized in accordance
with the provisions of Chapter 71A English Learner Education in Public
Schools. Acceptance of tuition requests will be dependent upon the
amount of space available in the program, as is a function of compliance
requirements. Families should work with their home districtto provide
services and/or arrange a tuition placement with the Pittsfield Public

RICHMOND STUDENTS
The Pittsfield Public Schools also maintains a tuition agreement with
the Town of Richmond. Students who want to enroll in either Pittsfield
High School or Taconic High School may register directly at the school.
Orientation sessions will be offered to Richmond grade 8 students in the
winter/spring of the preceding school year. They will be afforded the
opportunity to visit and tour the school, and parents will have an
opportunity to learn more about programs offered at the Pittsfield high
schools. Once Richmond students register in the Pittsfield Public
Schools, their choices of academic and vocational program are processed
as though they were residents of Pittsfield.
